The fall is always one of our favorite times of year and presents many opportunities to engage and partner with our community. This August was especially great for the Down syndrome community and many of our future physicians! DSACF staff, along with five mentor families, recently visited the University of Florida and University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine. As the medical students approach their genetics course, Down syndrome becomes a major topic of conversation. Each family was able to shared their individual journey of having a child with Down syndrome. We covered a range of topics from communication etiquette and speaking about Down syndrome, to the delicate subject of delivering a Ds diagnosis. We made a lasting impact by filling their hearts with joy, as they met very special individuals who helped them see, we truly are more alike than we are different! Thank you UF and UCF for your continued efforts in supporting the Down syndrome community!
