The health and safety of our families, instructors, volunteers, and staff is our top priority. Therefore, we’ve developed a phased approach to re-introducing in-person programming. Through this phased approach, we will continue to maintain safety guidelines as recommended by health experts and government officials. Since the pandemic has shown us that we must be flexible in adapting to current trends in our community, we will continue to adapt our services and guidelines, to be in alignment with the best interest of the community we serve. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this transition time together.
As of August 5, 2021, due to the current surge in positive COVID cases in Central Florida and the increased risk to our population, we encourage all participants to wear a mask at indoor events and highly populated outdoor activities.
DSACF will continue to advise both participants and volunteers experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, to refrain from attending live programs or events. DSACF reserves the right to ask individuals showing COVID-19 symptoms to complete a health screening questionnaire and temperature check. If individual(s) do not pass health screening, they will be denied attendance.
The DSACF office and Success Center is open under limited office hours hosted on the DSACF website.
When possible and appropriate, DSACF will only have one staff member holding office hours, to reduce the risk of exposure to our participants.
DSACF has hand sanitizer available throughout the facility and will wipe down high use traffic areas with disinfecting wipes throughout the day.
DSACF staff can conduct support services and outreach consultations to the comfort level of the staff/family/community member. We know the individual comfort level for meeting face to face varies amongst our constituents and DSACF is dedicated to being flexible in our approach to providing services.
Since the counties DSACF operates in are not currently under a mask mandate, DSACF will abide by the family / community member’s request to wear a mask, meet outside, meet virtually, etc.
Our programs will be a blend of in-person and virtual opportunities. When in-person programs are scheduled, if possible, an alternate virtual opportunity for participation will be provided. All in-person programs will adhere to the most updated city recommended safety guidelines.
Participant capacity for in-person, indoor, activities will be adjusted to allow a maximum of 70% of room capacity, to allow for social distancing.
Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk will be held at Lake Eola Park, a city owned park, and therefore DSACF will follow all health and safety regulations in place at the time of the walk.
Community Groups can meet in-person at offsite locations and onsite at the DSACF only if they abide by city regulations and recommendations and practice appropriate social distancing.
Volunteers will follow the most updated city recommended safety guidelines in place.
